How can I tell if filter is bad? Charcoal a must. But do they make non-OEM charcoal filters?

Default Any activity at all. Mine drip almost immediately. It's not a subtle thing.

The puddles should form at the firewall; one for the driver and one for the passenger.

Default If the advert is not completely clear about what type it is, just email the store and ask.

Normally it will say "Pleated Paper" or "Activated Charcoal"

Default they call it "dirty sock syndrome" in the HVAC industry. It's your condensate drain pan holding

water. Clear out the drain tubes so that there isnt any standing water in there. The procedure is on Audipages.

Default Very interesting. Thought drains were clear, but... So, would blasting the heat help?

I looked up "dirty sock syndrome" and found that the cure for HVAC systems usually involved UV light or sudsy soap -- options that I don't think are possible here. It also talks about the problem going away in winter because the heat kills the microbes. So, wouldn't blasting the heat bake those suckers out of there?

Of course, I'll check the condensate drain pan, too (or have my local shop do it). However, I had a sloshing noise in the dash back in January and they supposedly blew the drains clean at that time. Are these different drains than those?

Default The heat comes after the AC, so no. There are sprays for the purpose. Or Lysol.

Although there are specialty sprays for AC systems, when my AC started to smell musty, I sprayed Lysol disinfectant slowly into the cabin air intake under the hood with the fan on a few bars' speed, AC disengaged. The car smelled inside like Lysol for a few days, but the AC stopped smelling.

Default Exactly. Unle ss he's in a very low-humidity climate, A/C will get him condensate pretty much

immediately.
