My mechanic tells me that the VAG codes show an air pump issue on my 2001 A8L. I recall from prior threads that the first area to look at are hoses, but if it turns out a new pump is needed, any idea where to obtain a cheap one?

I do recall this whole write up and intended to print it out and give it to my mechanic, but I have been hearing a noise up front which I fear may have been the pump. Will find out tomorrow. Thanks for the fast response.
