Any advice on car meets manhole cover? One moves, the other doesn't.

I was driving thru the parking lot of the local grocery store and I hit a raised/cold heaved manhole cover in the middle of the dark lot. It ripped off part of the frame, the car sounds funny, the air bag deployed...don't know what else. I took it to the dealership and they will let me know tomorrow to what extent the damage was. Has anyone had any dealings with a similar situation and sought to achieve a remedy from the business or your insurance company? sucks.

Ouch!!! My buddies mom worked at a company that owned malls and he would claim damage in the parking lot all the time. Bought a toyota out of it. I think you need to find out who owns the lot. Fill a police report and have a wittness.

Either way, even if your car was lowered moderately, a manhole cover definitely should not hit your frame!
