Default serious question about hydraulics

I presume that the hydraulics can be left in a setting so that they do not affect ride quality. I've never actually seen a hydraulic kit for a car, so pardon the basic questions.

Do they do all the tricks with just a single cylinder per wheel? Somehow fastening one end to each end of the shock/strut?

I would like to lower my car when I replace the various suspension bits in the spring, but I already have enough trouble with curbs and driveways as it is -- so a three-inch extension would be handy.

Default Re: serious question about hydraulics

i think it makes a lot more sense to do air bags... thats what i have going on my a8 in a week or so.

its not as heavy, and its still very good ride quality, not as loud, and its just good enough to raise and lower whenever you need to.
