Any significant difference between S8 and A8 Airbox? Also GIAC or MTM ECU CHIP?

I currently have a K&N filter in my A8 box but am about to do an ECU upgrade (either GIAC or MTM)...I wonder if the S8 Airbox has significantly greater surface area.
Does anyone know if the S8 still uses a flat style filter or is it the cone shape?
I know there are a couple of "cone retro kits" for the A8 air box which places a cone filter in the existing A8 box...
Any comments appreciated...also any comments on GIAC or MTM software chipping...which do you all think would perform better?

the S8 airbox is set to feed that so you would need to do the airbox/intake manifold/software as a package. Hoppenmotorsport.com markets it along an cat back exhaust system.
Have been waiting for another lister to be the guinea pig for installing the MTM 325hp kit. Guess I am concerned about bang for the buck and how well it will cope with CA's oxgenated 91 octane swill.
