Default Anybody ever put in the V60 hands free kit (not on-star)?

I know if I had a 98, I could get the thing to work through the radio, but I have a 97.

Just got a V60 (long story there) and I want a hands free kit in my car again. My 91 200q with the hands free system was just awesome.

Anybody install this kit? I know I've seen people do it for their A6's before:

I want to use the TT mount or make something like it:

I can't believe it's that hard to do, I'm thinking it would be a nice addition to the car.

That way I can talk hands free during the Mid Ohio track session with Randy!

I have the v60 HF Kit in my car. The installation is pretty clean, but unfortunately not integrated with the radio.

From what I understand there is no "Pro Fit" kit for the A8 so the installer fabricated one. It sits directly to the right of the radio head unit.

Speaker is mounted under the passenger seat.

Haven't yet decided if I like the whole setup, but can't seem to make up my mind about removing it.

Default What is the Pro Fit kit?

I read about it, is it the thing that mounts it to the center console? I want to do an aluminum arm like the TT set up in my post above.

What year do you have? If you have a 99 or later, it is my understanding that it will mute the radio and read "phone" in the center display when on the phone. You can also output over your stero system versus external speaker.

I would try to figure all of this out.

Do you have any pictures of it that you can post or email me?

Pro Fit is a mounting system for individual vehicles which allows the cradle or mount to be installed using factory screws, thus not drilling holes in the car.

I am sure there is a way to connect everything to the radio, however, I didn't feel all too comfortable with the installer removing the stock head unit. I would have preferred to have everything workign in synch, but I just didn't want to chance it.

I will try to get some photos to you tomorrow.

Default You need the Audi V60 phone if you want the prewired hands free feature...

Otherwise, you'll need to get those aftermarket kits becasue even if you order the hands free kit from the dealer, I don't think it'll work...

Default I believe it will work with 98 and later, but if you want on star you need the Audi phone

There is a ton of information and pictures on audiworld, did a bunch of research yesterday.

Bought the kit, will have it next week. I'm going to see if I can get the TT bracket to mount it on, I'm sure it has a wiring harness that I will have to cut and paste with.

I will most likely put the brain of the phone under the rear seat, and I need an external antenna. My car was switched to an automatic antenna before I got my car, so no cell phone antenna because the original mast is gone. There is one out there made by Terk that people have used that is 1/4" by 4" that mounts inside your windshield (don't have warm weather package). It's out of site.

Since I have a 97, I don't think I will be able to integrate it into the radio to have it mute it while on the phone and come over the speakers. However, if you have the 98 and later, I see no reason why you can't.

This is all using the motorola kit, guys with an A6 using AT&T service have had this installed at East coast verizion install centers for about $180. It then comes over the radio display reading "phone" when on the phone. No Audi purchased parts.

It's a full 3 watt system.

We'll see, could be very cool!

Default Profit in a 98 A8

I have the Pro-Fit in my 98. I mounted it myself and it looks and works great with my Nokia. Mounted the brain in the passenger side of the console after removing the panel. Ran the Mic behind the headliner to the sunroof console panel. Used an external speaker on the kick panel on the passenger floor. Set up a 3"rubber glass mount attenna on the passenger top corner of the window. Only regret is that I didn't set it up to operate with the Concert Radio. Well may after reading a few threads...and a few "Road Sodas".

Default I called the Audi dealer to find out how much the mount is...expensive!

The Audi web site shows the picture with the TT phone installed:

However, it's only for the "cradle" not the stainless steel arm. The cradle alone is $200, the arm is another $277!

Good thing I represent a nuclear HVAC company, they have tons of 1" x 1/4" stainless bar sitting around, will have them bend me up a piece and weld on a little platform to mount the phone too. Will polish it with a polishing wheel.

Then I was going to mount it to the tranny tunnel.

Will have to figure all of this out when I get the kit.

Default Re: V60

Guys,

I have been looking to do the same thing, I know some people have done it in the A4 & A6 but not in the A*. I have a 98 A* 3.7 and am looking at either my nokia 6160, or the motorola v60. If you get it done please let me know and if you know anybody in the Atlanta area who could do this.
