Default Yikes!

Don't know the size unfortunately, but a couple of questions... Did you remove the big collar bolt in the hub first? Secondly, are you sure you need to be messing with the wheel bearing? The troll is actually right that it needs to be pressed out via a hydraulic press at a shop. I suppose you can just bring the housing in to them. But getting the front housing out is no picnic to be sure. :-(

Default I'm taking the car to my tech. I'm not messing with it now.

In the meantime, Yikes! is right.

Default Good idea.

I was starting to wonder how you were going to detach the ball joint too. It's a PITA without the proper tools.

Default The end is broken off, the C-clamp would have nothing to push.

I still need the correct size of the pinc bolt in order to replace it. I guess I could just go to Lowe's and get a similar 16mm nut with corresponding bolt of the same size.

Default Re: Good idea.

I did get a wheel bearing puller. The problem started when the small part of the wheel bearing came off with the hub. Otherwise the job was doable.

Default Ahhh, I know what you're saying

That happened to me before with the inner ring sticking on the spindle. I had to use a cutting wheel on my Rotozip to cut it off. Painful memories coming back to me...

Default here's what's worked for me on the pinch bolts (on my A4s)

I soak them in the requisite PB Blaster and then hit them with my impact wrench. That gets them broken loose and spining inside the housing. from there, a small punch and a hammer drives them right out. In rare cases I have to raise and lower the suspension to take the pinch off the pinch bolt.
