My little brother (18) got a wild hair to go w/ his buddies to the drag track last night and invited me. Dad was reluctant to let him go but decided to let him but dad came along too. My brothers got a 3.0 A4 6 speed quattro ultrasport. It was open track night for the public. Normally I wouldn't be too interested in dragging the S8 but since my brother was doing it, then my dad jumped in, after that all it took was for my dad to want to race me in his stock Infinity G35 S. I was IN! I took him on and lost multiple times I'm surprised and angry to say. That car makes 306 and is RWD. It's hard to launch the S8 very hard, since all I can do is hold the brake and the gas to the floor. When I do that, it only gives me 2000 rpm, then just take my foot off the brake. When I did that, I leaped out in front of the infinity about 2-3 car lengths, then he'd catch me and we'd be within 1/2 second or tenths apart but he'd always beat me. His speed was always 3-5 mph more than me across the line too. We were so close, I kept trying to improve me reaction time to the light. I finally got a .134 reaction and he got a .511 and the S8 did the 1/4 in 14.972 doing 94.51 mph and his car did it in 14.55 doing 98.27. I gave up. Anyway back to the car weights. The scale was working at the track so we weighed all 3 cars w/ nobody in them. My brothers 3.0 A4 weighs 3640, My s8 weighs 3970 and dads INfinity is 3510. Pretty fun night after all even though I wasn't to into it at first. I've invited dad to come to Barber Motorsports and get his butt kicked in Sept. w/ the Audi Club. I doubt he'll come.
Anyway, anybody else know for sure what the regular a8's and a8L's weight or anything?

... with 1/4 fuel IIRC is 95 lb down from full, empty trunk (no tools/spare) saves 60 lb, and 2-piece front/rear rotors that save another 30 lb.

I had about the same amount of gas as you but my trunk had all the OEM stuff in it. So sounds bout right.

The <a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a8/msgs/16643.phtml">Stasis Rear Kit</a> was $800, but replacement Coleman rear discs are about $200.

The <a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a8/msgs/4628.phtml">Alcon Front</a> is another story, about $900 for the Alcon discs alone.
