Default Anyone get the Transmission Locking Cable Modification safety recall (#37D5/J2) today ?

Affects '96-'03 A8s. The issue is that the locking cable may move out of position over time and thus the shifter can be moved out of park even if the key is not in the ignition. The dealer will install an adjusting piece to secure the locking cable in place. I'm going to take it in this week to see what gives. Too bad they don't own up to the other tranny issues !

Default YES, but read down the page a few topics.

This topic is already up for discussion.

Cheers

Yes - deliberating as I am the only driver and reluctant to let the monkey lads near.

Default Out of the hundreds (Thousands?) of A8/S8s that have been on this forum, has ANYONE ever.......

experienced this problem? I don't ever recall anyone ever mentioning this on the forum. They won't fix any of the real design flaws, but they issue a recall for a non-problem. Gotta "love" AoA!

PS- I received my notice today as well, and my S8 isn't going anywhere near the monkey lads!!!!

Default Lawsuit makes companies move

If one car causes a crash or kills someone due to a faulty cable, Audi can be sued big time. If your car does not go into reverse, Audi makes money on the repair.

Simple logic, not nice logic.
