Anyone have experience making an insurance claim?

I've had coverage with Geico for 7+ years without making a single claim...I may need to make one now that is an "at fault" claim. I read that they too offer "accident forgiveness", but not in my state. ![Frown](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Anyway, just curious if anyone has an idea of how much the rates might jump if I make the claim.

If it's a big one and you're costing them money, you're in for it. If it is minor, it will be minimal. It also depends on age as well (demographic statistics and all ya know).

over the past 7 years.
I guess I'm afraid to see what would happen since I've never made an at fault claim with any insurance provider over a span of 20+ years driving so I just don't know what to expect.

five years, it should not be too bad. I had an accident once, my fault, and my rates did not go up. I probably did about 5k worth of damage to the other car.

They could do anything. I've heard of them dropping people who have been with them for decades after they had two or three accidents in a short time span. I'm with Allstate and put my car on a curb last year. It did about $2K in damage (front wheel and tire, repair of underbody section under front/rear on drivers' side and rear door sill) and my month;y payments went up by $40. I'm guessing you can extrapolate from there.

they looked into my driving record and added the speeding tix changing my rating. FWIW I recently switched to Erie Insurance and cut my premiums by more than 50%. Screw that lizard.

any blemish on the record, rates go up. Can find better coverage with comparable rates elsewhere. Try Allstate, Nationwide or even Balboa Insurance (Countrywide).

Raise was not based on the amount of damage. That was their standard increase after an accident for which I was at fault.
