Default anyone have a pic of the 6pin connector for the trailer wiring that is located in

the rear of the trunk behind the plastic mouldings?
All A/S8's have this in preperation for the fitting of a trailer hitch

Default No Eye deer

About the pins configuration.

But, where are you sourcing a hitch? or are you fabricating your self?

The trailer just sits since the ute went away.

The 8 would make a suitable replacement, especially if it is all ready wired ;-)

Default Trailer hitch info? Anyone?

I've searched, but all threads seem to end without resolution. (I particularly enjoyed the one on tyresmoke.net where this guy in England was about to buy a hitch only to discover that his car already had one.) Anyone know the euro part number(s) or OEM?

For that matter, are euro hitches compatible with US utility trailers, or can they be safely modified?

His pic above certainly shows he has a hitch, but I believe the car is in NZ.

Default Re: Trailer hitch info?

After hours of searching, the net result was to have a local hitch expert custom fab an installation with attention to Alum/Steel differences. About $700-$800 locally. Have not done so as I convinced wifey her Jap car needed a hitch for $200!

Default I had the hitch or towbar as we call them here made locally and it

was fitted to the car with aluminium spacers.
All the A8's are pre wired with a plug in the trunk behind the plastic trim.
Unfortunately I did not know this until after mine was wired by the fitter

Default Thanks for the post Simon. I am the one who wants to put a hitch on the M8.

I am planning to pull a pop-up camper to Colorado this summer. I want to make it like the factory hitch, hidden behind the bumper.
