Anyone know how I can check to see if the flap in my intake manifold is working correctly?

Sometimes I find significantly more low end torque than others. It's noticable wnough for me to think the flap/valve thingy might be sticking in the top end position.

the valve body is in the Rest position when the car is off, but when you turn the car on, it energizes and turns the valve.
You can see it "switch" just by looking at it.

Switchover specs are in the service manual.
If the low end torque is better when the weather is cool, consider the possibility that carbon buildup or low octane gas is causing knocking so the timing gets retarded. By 90,000 miles, my 4.2 5V was a slug at low rpm on hot days, but a couple cans of GM Top Engine cleaner fixed that (induced through a vacuum hose, with potential serious engine damage if done too quickly). Before cleaning, the knock was audible through an open window at the start of acceleration.
