anyone welded a center armrest?

Default anyone welded a center armrest?
so my wife somehow managed to snap my center armrest in half while borrowing the car today. (not the armrest itself, but the metal part in the center that fastens it down.) I don't see an armrest set for sale anywhere, even on Ebay Germany, so I'm thinking my best bet is to take it to a welder and have him stitch it back together.

anyone else tried this? w/ or w/o success?
