The dealer charged my insurance company $2,700 to replace entire pulley assembly due to a problem with main cooling fan. The deal is they replace every pulley, bushing, washer, nut and blot that touches the fan. 3 Months latter same problem rears its ugly head, but this time it's the fan clutch, the only piece they didn't replace for $2,700.

Its not so much that the fan clutch went out, but the fact that they charged $2,700 to replace every piece around it (which I will eventually pay for)and didn't think to replace this part, which would be the most likely part to be damaged by a front end collision.

The list of Stealer agony

1. TB replacement, timing off, and leaking coolant when I pick up the car.

2. Change oil, broke sending unit, leaks oil all over garage.

3. burnt oil smell, smoke. Stealer tells me valve cover gaskets. PW spots torn cv boot in 30 seconds

I love these cars, I have two Audi's, but the dealer service is the worst I have ever experienced.

I thought I just read you found a local repair shop that did good work in Glenn Ellyn area. I also live in that area (Wheaton) and drive the same 98 A8 as yours. Where is the local repair shop you liked?
