Had my broken armrest fixed by a clever man who built up a new post with bicast rod then reshaped and drilled. $50.00
Perfect fix and seems very strong.
He commented that the reason that they seem to break is inherint poor design exsasabated by the hole that the bolt runs through becoming loose with wear thus causing extra pressure un the alloy each time it waggles.
Suggest putting nylon spacers in holes to firm up loose hole and reduce risk of breakage

if you unzip and pull back the leather cover there is a locking washer on the swivel mechanism -remove this and the plastic spacer [store these safely then depress button at the end of armrest and the mechanism slides apart.
then send the broken post to me and he will repair and I will return via post.Easy to refit.
email me for more detail
