Hi,
I have Audi A8 D2 98' with 4.2 engine and 5 speed automatic gearbox.
Last summer my gearbox needed to replace some mechanical parts in it. 1. gear and reverse gear drum changed. After that started gearbox act in motorway strangely. If I drive in example around 80 km/h and do quick move to half way with gas pedal it changes down 5. to 4. with yank. But it doesn't do it all the time. I think half times it changes down with yank. Even if I change down manually it does it half of times. No errors in CPU. Before repairing it worked correctly. I even purchased used valve body with solenoids and the result is the same!
Oil is clean and filter is new. Oil level is OK.
Now I am out of ideas. New valve body? Or maybe new solenoids?

I didn't do it my self. On of the Estonian company who is specified to the automatic gearboxes did it. I hope they changed oil as needed.
Does the low oil level trigger something like that? Today I am going to write down my gearbox data (serial, model...) and maybe there is restored valve body available.
Only thing I afraid is it valve body's fault? The mechanic told it can by only valve body or some solenoids. What do you think?
Rest of gears and sifts are perfect. Only sometimes down sift 5. to 4.
