The current issue of Auto World Weekly, a recently launched weekly magazine that I prefer to Auto Week, has a luxury car comparsion test in its current issue. The contenders: BMW 740iL, MB S430, Jaguar XJ8L and the Lexus LS430. Why isn't the Audi A8L included in this test? It is certainly in the same class, size and price range as these cars. The only explanation I can think of is that the A8 sells in far fewer numbers than these other luxury cars to be deemed significant competition. That's a shame because the Audi would have beaten the Jag and S430 (like it did in an Edmunds.com comparison test a while back). I don't know if it could beat the LS430 with its torquier engine and lower proce tag or the 740iL which was equipped with the optional sport package.
By the way, the 740iL edges the LS430 by half a point to win the comparison test. I think the S430 finished third.

The 2002 Q45 is a much improved car, but the sheetmetal design leaves a lot to be desired.
Are you implying that car magazines buy every car they test? I highly doubt that. I think it was left out because the A8 is not a mainstream chocie by the virtue of its very low sales volume.
