Default We've had this discussion before- my Audi jack actually bent under the weight of the A8....

on flat ground with no side loads at all. I'm amazed Audi hasn't been sued to death over this obvious design flaw. I will NEVER under ANY circumstances EVER use the Audi supplied jack again!!! Nothing like a $70,000 car with a $2 emergecny jack......funny place to cut corners.

Default Triple AAA saw my jack break!

AAA driver tried using mine for some reason, immediately failed. I kept it and showed the service rep, tried to claim it on Assured Warranty. They laughed at me!!

Default (a8drifter) oh my god, the same happened to me when I was painting my calipers. I was too lazy to

get my floor jack, but after dropping my car down and dealing with that nonsense, I will never trust that OEM jack again. Thank goodness that I didn't have any part of my body under the car. My jack now leans a little to the side. That stamped aluminum frame is weak by design. Sometimes, that plain old carbon steel is good for these applications.

Paul, I didn't catch on that it wasn't your story till I got to the picture. You had me worried for a bit. Your AudiPages and general advise and suggestions are always great!! Thanks for all the help.
I'm a new 98 A8 owner that has just started to tweak my ride a bit (cross cut rotors with Kevlar pads, Chrome tips)I'll be ordering some mirror covers shortly and am very interested in recoding the tranny. I find it up shifting far to quickly when cruising in the city and in around 100km on the highway it goes into 5th far to early. Do you figure that if I think my tranny is having issues that I deal with it first (time and money wasted) or do you think the recoding will address it and if needed I can analyze it and see what needs to be done????

Default 1 st year that I was at Grattan when Randy and I were doing the brakes my jack folded in half on me

almost getting my leg. What a piece of crap. that is why I bought a Small travel size floor jack in its own duffel case from Cummings for $30.00, best safety investment I could find. Will never be with out it again. I have help many people on the side of the road with this jack.
