Hello all,

I have just about made up my mind about purchasing a '99 A8 from a private party. One thing is still lingering on my mind: extended warranty. I think the car is out of it's original warranty from Audi. I called Audi to see if I can purchase an extended Audi Assurance. They said since I am purchasing it from a private party, I can't get the extended warranty. Does anyone have a source for getting a good extended warranty? What I mean by good, one that will pay for the work without putting me through hell. I had one of those warranties on a BMW. Anyway I really love the car. It only has 46K miles and had been taken care of by a very reputable foreign car shop from day one. Any advise is highly appreciated. I am taking the wife today to see it and hopefully close the deal. Again this is the only issue I have.

Audi only offers extended warranty threw their Audi assured were they know if anything is wrong before hand. If I am right the current warranty should end sometime this year or has already ended. You should check your local dealer to see if they have any a8's that are used and is sold by them because you know they arent cheating you out and there is the extended warranty for a little bit more but i think its a 4 or 5 year 100,00 mile bumper to bumper.

I just bought a '99 A8 w/ 24,900 miles on it from my dealer in CT. The car was Audi assured and holds a 2 year/100,000 mile extended warranty from Audi. I guess there is a $50 deductible on most repairs.

And yes, I love this car.
