Great minds think alike... I was just going to head back out there and check that. When I bought the
car it had just had brakes/rotors done at the Audi leasing center. Betcha they didn't do it last time but I'll go find out.

Good call.. I pretty sure this is the problem. Both sides were really dry. I do have a torn dust
boot but the caliper is dry - no leaks. I'm going to lube them up and put in the new pads. Betcha it's gonna work just fine. Thanks !

Re: that might be a good option - where did you get the rebuild kit ? Does it have dust boots too ?
yes it had the boots and orings. very easy to do, but you will need a brake caliper tool to push and turn the piston. Another option is to grind down some neddle nose pilers and use them.. DON NOT USE CHANNEL LOCKS. To much risk to the piston and boots. I don't remeber where I got the kit on line.. I save too many links.. LOL... What I usually do is google search and go from there. look for free shipping, look for best prices etc. But you should be able to find them easy.. I did and they run from $9-13 for the kit and they come with enough to do both sides. I did one side and will the do the other if needed at a later date. The reason I changed mine was I felt the drag, my wheels where very hot to the touch and then I took the wheel and caliper off and found the boot broke and piston stuck out. I also took a block and sand paper and ruffed up the shoes again so I could reuse them since they were very new. good luck
