Battery charging via cigarette lighter?
I have a 2001 S8 (D2).
Does anyone know whether it is possible (and safe) to charge the battery through the cigarette lighter socket? I notice that Maplin (in UK) are currently selling a solar powered trickle charger that could be connected in this way and it struck me that if it would work, this might be a good solution for keeping the battery charged up if I am away for a few weeks.
