Default Re: You sure it's not leaking into your transmission through the radiator/tranny cooler?

Hello Paul - I was hoping you would jump on this thread. I've been following your advice on audipages ever since I bought this car.

I only see pink coolant fluid on the ground, the engine oil seems to be good.

I was hear to get help, not to listen to people preaching...

Default If the engine oil looks good....

....and you see coolant on the ground....where do you see coolant? Front of the car, middle of the car?

How much are you loosing? What rate? It's only after you turn the car off?

I highly doubt it's the head gaskets. Basically never heard of that actually being the problem and I have over 16,000 posts. I've read almost every post on this board in the last 6 years. I'm not saying it couldn't be that, but I doubt it.

Need more info.

It's coming out from the front of the car, passenger side to be exact. It only happens when the car is turned off. The first time I lost a lot, but then I added Bar's Leak and it slowed it down a bit.

I always serviced the car at the dealer. I took it to 2 different ones and they both said it is a blown head gasket.

As mentioned earlier, I have no problem with replacing it, but $3000 is too much. I was hoping to get it done for $1500 at the most, will that be possible!

Default Then, where is the fun? :) To your posting, though:

>>I can live with temporary fix for now as I'm planning to get rid of the car soon.

The answer that Ross gave is appropriate to your response above. I'm sorry but "getting rid of the car soon" is not very indicative of level of caring and attention to the next buyer.

Sorry if I offended you; hope you find a good independent mechanic to work on the problem.

It all seems to be a misunderstanding. I asked in my earllier post if anyone could suggest a good independent shop in socal area that would fix this for less. I rather fix the problem before selling, but $3000 is too much. Thanks dimitristx

Default Sorry to be so harsh, but if you really want to fix it for a reasonable price

and you don't want to inspect the oil cooler as PaulW has suggested, why not ask for an independent mechanic referral in the SoCal forum? Or <gasp> do a search?
