Bosch ABS "brain" rebuild/replace

I've read that the ABS "brain" for late '90s and early 2000's can go wonky, and mine is doing that. It seems these items are prone to failure; does anyone know if there's an "upgrade" or a rebuilder whose rebuild "fixes" the problem? I see numerous places online that will rebuild these, but if there's a design fault, putting mine back to "original" seems short-sighted. Anyone have experience with this?

A couple months ago this was happening in my S6 and I unplugged the electrical connection to the ABS unit, had a look at the connectors, blew out some small insignificant looking debris & reconnected. Since then, I've had no problem.
In some cases, a new brake light switch has solved the problem.
Most likely you'll need to send it out - Module Masters has a pretty good reputation http://www.modulemaster.com/en/index.php

I don't know how the other guys do it, but I beef up the 'design fault' with a more rigid connection so it won't fail again.
I also charge about $100 less than the other guys.
