Default Brake Block Order for S8 owners

I sent the file to emachineshop and got a quote between $40-$50, for 5-6 pieces, which should also cover shipping. I'll take the lead ordering this and then shipping out the pieces to everyone. Can I get a final list of who woul like a brake block? Also email me directly with your complete contact info and mailing address, and we can also discuss payment options.

For those who don't know what the brake block does, it's an easy modification which installs in minutes and fixes the mushy brake pedal feel, or long brake pedal travel under hard braking conditions. It does this by eliminating flex in the fire wall where the master cylinder is mounted. Also do a search for "brake block" on the forum for more info.

Cheers,
Gregg

Does this only work for S8? How about '97 A8?

Default A possible alternative....

I got the emachineshop file from Mpollan as well and I am bringing the dimensions to a good friend of mine who works in a prototype machine shop. I talked to him briefly about it and while I know it will not be a problem for him, it may take some time for him to get going on them. He was thinking something in the realm of 30 days right now.

The "Up" side: They WILL be cheaper than $40-50. If we need more in the future, they will be a phone call away and he can do one or two at a time with no additional set-up fees.

It's just a timing thing right now. It would be "Side work" for him and I have to meet up with him to discuss the details and talk about the money and that could take a week all by itself. I am more than happy to "buy" the initial run and then sell them at cost to whoever needs one, but I don't want to have 10 made and pay him for them if we are going to have a run of them done at emachineshop as well. I guess we just need to coordinate efforts.

How about you give me 48 hours to talk with my friend and see what he says. If that falls through, we will go the emachineshop route. Sound like a plan?

Default Answers......

The Cadillac was my car in high school. It was the most unreliable car I EVER owned, it got HORRIBLE gas mileage, parts were hard to find and just as expensive as S8 parts, handled like crap, stopped even worse....but I miss it terribly! It had so much soul and so much personality, that you couldn't help but love it.

The Ur....no, I do not have a 12k mile car. The car used to belong to a current D2 lister (care to guess who?) and I bought it from the guy he sold it to. The guy I bought it from neglected it in a very bad way. So, when I brought it home, I pulled the entire drivetrain and rebuilt or replaced EVERYTHING. I also bought a brand new Speedometer from Audi after sending the original one out 3 times for repair and it still not working. So, it had the ~12k miles you see in the pictures on a new speedometer and drivetrain.

Default Also works in the A8L as is. An A8 requires the addition of the strut tower brace.

The strut tower brace is standard in the S8 and A8L, but it can be added to an A8.

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/17157/strutbar.jpg">

The Block slips between the strut tower brace and the master cylinder.
