Brake Block Order for S8 owners

but you can check with a simple test to see if it's needed.
Open the hood, have a seat, pump the brake pedal a few times to pressurize the brake lines, then push very hard on the brake pedal while watching the nose of the master cylinder. Without the block, mine would move almost 1/2" !! Because of the 5:1 pedal ratio, that translates into ~2.5" of wasted pedal travel.
For some unknown reason, Paul's '97 A8 had a much firmer brake pedal than my '01 S8. I don't believe The Block would have provided his A8 much improvement in what was already a pretty good pedal feel.

As Randy's noted time and time again - couple this with a good BLEED (not knuckles). That yieled an equal amount of pedal feel improvement as the block did.

My car is much more enjoyable as result of adding spacers (crisper turn in, da ***** look), brake block, a good bleed, and Servotronicotomy - FWIW to yous who just gots yers.
