Default Brake Pads

I am planning on replacing both front and rear brake pads and wondering what would be a good choice? I have 97 A8. OEM? Other aftermarket?
Thanks for your help.

Default Just did mine yesterday

Hello,

I originally went with the OEM crap and that lasted one year. Infact when I removed the pads the brake sensor was half way though already - good timing on my part.

I bought my pads and rotors from ecstuning.com. I was pretty impressed with the quick turnaround on shipping - ground took 4 days. Ohio to Colorado.

I bought:

Front stuff
PBR Ceramic Brake Pad Set-With sensor wire (round connector) $89
ECS Slotted Aftermarket Rotor - 12.3 (312x25) - pair $179

I also bought a couple CV boot kits for $20.
You never know.

It's only been 24 hours and so far so good.

Hope this helps,

Later

Sawyer

Default PBR ceramics here too. Just bed them and whipped them today. Impressed, not too shabby for $89.00

No noise, not too dusty, and a great bargain.

Just did my rears on thurs night, fronts friday night

I just looked at their web site. They say to use the ceramic pads, I need 312x25 rotors. If I have OEM rotors, will this not work?

Default What do you guys use to push the piston back into the caliper?

The Bentley shows a special tool, which I assume people are not buying. I have used a c clamp in the past.

Overall is this a simple job? It looks like it.

Go to Harbor Freight and pick up a brake service tool. $30.00 and you will get more than enough on a set.

Default C-clamp and a short 2X4 works fine, but the tool is much nicer to use.....

Get the tool if this is something you will be doing more than once- it's worth it!

Use the tool on the rears for sure. High chance of ripping the boot w/o it !
