I am gearing up to change out all pads and rotors on my 03 A8L. In my research, there are numerous mentions of certain pads being compatible with specific calipers; Lucas-Girling, for instance. Was Lucas-Girling something from the factory? Is there a way I definitively tell if I have them, via the chassis number for example? Which pads do you all recommend? I don't need high performance after market pads or anything, I just want them to stop the car and have minimal dust!

You should have the HP-2 front brakes:

My favorite pads on my 2001 A8 with the HP2 brakes were Bosch Quietcast.
