Default Brake pads and new rotors at only 17k miles!

Is is normal for the 2003's to eat through brakes so quickly? The tech guy at the dealership said that he believed the brakes are too small for the weight of the car, and that it likely contributes to an early wear out. Anyone else go through brakes so fast?

You can purchase the same problems much more economically, see link.

You might have a bit of retained pressure in the master cyl.

I have 70K on the little 312mm rotors and they are flat, retain a good surface finish, and have plenty of meat remaining. I have four new rotors in boxes I expected to need but have not had to use. I am easy on equipment, however.

Yes, the brakes, especially on my car, are too small. The rear pads are used on an Alfa, for heaven's sake. They must have gotten a deal.

http://www.fordfocusbrakeproblems.com/</a

Default Yep. I had front and rear pads replaced at 15,000 miles under

warranty (2001 A8L) I was astounded at the little mileage from the OEM pads. Front rotors are warped and dealer machined them for 2nd time I believe, but won't replace them since the thickness is within spec.
