Brake rotor/pads recommendation?
Looks like I will be replacing the front rotors & pads soon. Any recommendation on aftermarket rotors that will fit the OEM calipers?
I would like to keep the $$ to a minimum, but would like to look into cross-drilled for heat dissipation.

Don't know of anything, as usual, I recommend new stock rotors and pads
I think this will be your highest chance of having fewest problems.

If you're worried about heat, I suggest avoiding drilled rotors ...
Brake dust gets sucked thru the holes, coats the cooling vanes, and reduces heat transfer. The holes also reduce rotor mass, further reducing their ability to handle heat.
Worse yet, the edge of every hole creates high localized stresses when the rotor's hot and becomes a point where a crack can initiate. The pic is a drilled Brembo on a Porsche; and Brembo's are about the best drilled rotor available.

What year A8? A8 or A8L?
Stoptech has 323x30mm slotted front rotors available for the '99+ A8L, but I'm not sure if these are really any better than stock rotors. The A8 uses a 312x25mm front rotor.
I agree with Paul that the stock pads are hard to beat for the street. Since I have Alcon front calipers, I don't have the option of using the Audi pad. For a high performance street pad, I've been very pleased with both the Ferodo DS2500 and the Pagid 4-2-1, but I don't know if either of these is available for the front and rear (you should do both) of the stock A8 calipers. I have the Pagid on my car now, but the Ferodo can handle some light track use.

Make/model Stoptech rotor search

Would Slotted be better than drilled?
Slotted and plain are comparable and probably the best for resistance to warping.
Slotted and drilled rotors have two very small and relatively insignificant advantages compared to plain. The slots or holes tend to keep the pad surface clean -- minimizing the build-up of glazing on the pads, and the squealing that glazed pads can cause. They also have a slightly greater initial bite because of the edges of the slots (or holes). As a result, both tend to wear pads quicker than a plain rotor.
Actually, about the only thing "wrong" with a plain rotor is that it just doesnt look as racy.
