Default BRAKE SQUEAL

I'm having a major problem with my brakes squealing. I have a 1997 Audi A8 quatrro with 103,000 miles on it. In Decmeber of 2005 I paid $1,500 for new rotors, pads, and rear calipers from a reputable foregin mechanic specialist. Since then I have gone back to him 3 times to have everything replaced under warranty because of the squeaks and squeals. Every 3 months the squeaks are worse than ever and he repalces everything with new rotors and pads. He said this is the last time he'll do it. What can possibly make the brakes squeal after new rotors and pads?

What kind of pads? Maybe they naturally squeal.

Default I have the for pot callipers on the front and when new pads they

squealed so I removed the little rattle clips on the pads and they settled down about 90 percent

Well the last couple times he put metallic on. But now I have ceramic in the front and in the back. I dont know if they are OEM pads. But he tells me they are.

Really? You think it might be the rattle clips? Can I remove them myself or does my mechanic have to remove them?

Default If you buy the pads from the dealer, they will be quiet, but very dusty.

I've just bought some Hawk pads for the front and they squeal a bit, but NO dust at all. I love them. On the rear I have the OEM pads with no dust. The rotors from ebay $260 for 4 with shipping.

Default The bottom line is that Aftermarket brake pads will be better ....

... and make less dust BUT will probably make at least a LITTLE noise.

OEM pads are designed to not make the owners complain, not to be "great" brake pads.
