x2 on the Camry...x200000 on the Prius. In my defense, the Accord belongs to my wife (I've owned only German cars since I was 16). However, it drives great, is super quiet and comfortable even at 80 (EX model), plenty fast and crazy MPG on long road trips, and its stereo puts the D2's to shame. Would I drive one as my daily? Hell no! Would I consider one if I didn't have the means to keep my S8 running at its full potential? You're damn right I would! I guess I just have a different perspective. Somehow this turned into a rip on Hondas (my point was simply towards reliability/running costs...Honda, skateboard, bicycle all have about the same running costs).

3.7 seconds? Hahahahahaha, not even supercharged with a downhill takeoff could the D2 achieve that! Maybe 0-60 km/h. Add 2.5s at least if you're talking mph. The fastest car I've driven (my fathers SL) does 0-60 in 3.9s, and that's with a 645hp TT V12. D3 (hell, not even the D4) does it in the time you reference.

...... supposedly 3.5 seconds for the new model.

Typical Motortrend optimism...found a source that listed D2 S8 @5.7sec. It's really more like 6.5. In any case, the new Accord coupe hits 60 in 5.5s

The new S8 is a sleeper, that's for sure.

Way under rated on the power numbers by Audi too, seriously sleeper...

Stock they are putting down chassis dyno numbers indicating the engine's real potential is much higher than the "stats" listed on the marketing booklets, or even the performance numbers claimed by Audi.

But that's what I would expect of a twin turbo, direct injected V8 from our friends in AUDI land.

It would be fun to see if one of these days, the engine/transmission could be "transplanted" into the D2 body from a wiped out current D4 S8. (Or even the regular turbo V8's are said to be the same engine.. Just "rated" at different numbers, but again, putting out much more power than they are rated at when the vehicle is strapped to a dyno.)
