Default Buying a 2000 Audi A8

I found a 2000 Audi A8 that I liked alot and am seriously considering. They're asking $19,900 for it with 59k miles. It has navi, parktronic, and from the sunroof pictures, solar sunroof. Im guessing that means also automatic rear sunshades. The price includes a 3/36 comprehensive $0 deductible warranty through a company called Continental Warranty. (not sure how reputable they are...)

I haven't seen the car in person as it is about 300 miles away, hence why I want to cover my tracks before I go there.

It is at a dealership and they do not have any maintenance records, however it was a lease turn in. Is there anything in particular about the 00s that I should watch for? I know the A8s in general had the trans issues, hence why I wanted the warranty. But wasn't sure if it was better to go newer than a certain year.

Default Yes. Get a copy of the warranty. Read Audipages. Search completed eBay listings.

Default My 99 was a dealer CPO w/58,000 miles

and I paid $19,000 for it a year and a half ago.
It was a very clean car with the audi warranty.

If your 2000 is a really nice car with a good warranty it's prolly worth around $18,000 in my opinion. A 2000 is a better car than a 1999 all things being equal.

Beware that it's just about due for a timing belt service. Over $1,000.

Default Summer package caveats....

The tint in the glass made my radar detector worthless (Valentine 1! bummer) Didn't know it when I drove it from Chicago to Colorado. Can't believe I didn't get a ticket. I wondered why all them cops didn't have radar on. Now I know I was just extremely lucky!

Also my cell phone works like crap unless I'm right next to a tower.

But having a black car with black leather, even in Alabama, with the sunroof cracked, it dosent get that hot in there at all. I would say its the coolest summer car I've ever had. It was good in Colorado too, its hotter there in the summer but rains less, so the leaving the sunroof cracked thing is a bit of a delima here in Bama.

Let me correct some of the misinformation: (1) you will not have trouble with cell phone etxc because the meatal UV blocking laminate was discontinued by 2000 (2) you will not be do for a timing belt because the interval is 105K (3) the price is not necessarily too high...if we're talking about an A8L and not an A8...2 montha ago at the Audi auction a 2001 A8L in perfect condition with 60K cost me 18.2 wholesale and the though your's is a year older you're also paying retail and those two equalize the money.
