I have a 2000 3.7 Quattro tiptronic. I use the tiptronic as much as I can. Only on highways I put it in drive, otherwise in tiptronic mode. This will save your transmission as it will change gears much less than in automatic mode. Great cars!

Hi-
I've got 2 Disco 2's and an 89 classic. Put a lwb drivetrain in it, hence the 4.2 name. The Rovers are great vehicles, but I prefer the A8 for every day use. Where are you?

I can't speak to third party warranties, but I would want to see meticulopus service records from the seller including timing belt change. This service should include replacement of seals, tensioners, and the water pump. Does this year have an issue with oil lines? Anyway, IF the proper maintenance and major service was performed, I wouldn't have any qualms. but I'm an idiot and do all of my own work. I bought my loaded 2000 A8 with 75K last year on e-bay for $19,500. I got lucky, the car has been well-behaved with only the usual suspects: vaccum line detached causing Injection Air fault and brake pads (tie rod ends are ready to go).
In the US, I imagine the cost to maintain and repair the Lexus would be less, because Audi parts are costly and there are just fewer of them.
The only achilies heel with a well maintained mid mileage car would be the transmission. Do a search for the fluid and filter change and then don't worry about it.
Good luck whichever way you go.

The glass and body burn your hands, but the air inside is much cooler. If you take client out in the sun, this will help too. LS400 gas mileage is pretty much the same as the A8, not much better. Air condition for the back is wonderful, even my baby is less fussy in the scorching heat.
