Default If it's a high pitched noise, it's most likely the filter is dirty

It drops too much pressure, and the hydraulic pump cavitates....you need to do a fluid and filter change.

Did you call Pro Imports? They have done this exact work for several board members' A8s.

Default Squeal Noise? when? cold starts in gear or not in gear?

I once had the noise briefly between 1st and 2nd gear, esp.when cold and at a low rpm gear change. The cause was a low fluid level due to a popular shop not sealing my filter properly which caused a leak when I did the tranny fluid with the T belt.

Default i called them ... they're booked solid for 3weeks

the guy said it could possibly be the alternator, since the transmission is still shifting rather smoothly.. i'll have to look at the alternator later today.

the only codes i got from the OBD was
P1280-- fuel air metering/manfacutre Contrl

and a DTC PENDING code (whatever that means)
P0321-- Ignition/Dist
Engined Speed Input
CKT Range/Perf

Default the squeal/kazoo sound is constant ESPECIALLY with the cold

went to the dealer yesterday for a "look", and he thinks it may be a TENSION belt coming loose because the noise varies with rpms and noticeable with the car in park/neutral... but they could not get me in because "we're booked solid"

could it still be the transmission filter??
