Cam timing

I have seen this question before on here.
With the fixture ON , the cam to cam alignment (that being when you look at the cam chain sprockets under the valve cover) The drivers side (cam to cam) Sprockets align so the 0 marks are directly across from each other looking like this 0 > < 0 , the passengers side has it slightly advanced say maybe one to two belt teeth. Again this is with the fixtures on. This is a 97 A8 4.2. Is this normal?

They may be *slightly* misaligned due to play in the chain, but not 1-2 teeth. I had what I thought was perfect alignment on reassembly, but when I tightened down the bearing caps, noticed it was a tooth off. Took it back apart and made sure they were spot on.

I had the heads off and I have the cam to cam timing spot on without the cam fixtures on but when I install the fixtures I have to advance the passenger side cam a little to get the fixture to fit.

you know I should ask you this Are you speaking about this with the cam valve timing fixture installed? the fixtures used when changing a T-belt
