Default It is a proceedure to restore stock settings and should be done after

all repairs.
It may be that a Knock sensor went outside its limits and the car shut everthing down to prevent catastrophic failure.
Now the car is reluctant to allow the same thing to happen and requires a basic settings or readiness code depending on the year/model of the ecu.
Search on here for a list of AW'ers with vag in your area and give them a buzz to see if they can help.
Is the car running at all????

Default nope...car will not stay running. i had it towed to my indie shop and he has VAG...

so we shall see tomorrow once he gets on it to see what happened. *fingers crossed* that its something stupid like a vac leak or bad relay or something...god forbid a broken belt.

Default here are my codes:

-16705 / P0321 - Ign./Distributor Eng.Speed Inp.Circ Range/Performance

-16505 / P0121 - Throttle/Pedal Pos.Sensor A Circ Range/Performance

Thats all i got. it flashed and then the car died. wont start. it tries but stumbles all over itself and then dies. Please, anyone, ask me questions about what ive done/havent done.

Default The first one is enough to keep it from running. And to bounce the tachometer

Normal troubleshooting caveats apply -- follow service manual procedures to reduce the risk of needlessly replacing stuff.

Default I had something similar with my S8

Twice - If your instrument panel is out also, I suspect it is the immobilizer chip which is part of the instrument panel. Mine had exactly the same symptoms in terms of not running beyond a turn of the key and both times - once warranty, once not - the instrument panel needed to be replaced - cost $1300 for part and $600 labor at dealer.

This problem is among the reasons I no longer own an S8

Default Look at the bolts on the front of the engine.

Do they appear to have any wrench marks on them? Are they clean compared to other bolts or fasteners in the engine compartment?

If so, this COULD indicate that there has been a TB recently done. I'll bet you still have the original TB in there as it is an expensive procedure and usually not done until the recommended interval (90,000 miles) or later.

Given the fact you had the motor wound up pretty good before it happened I'll bet your current problem is related to that high RPM excercise somehow.
