Car goes in for diagnosis of roller noise ??on tuesday and also to confirm
the source of a small oil leak from either front seal or upper sump gasket.
The tech is going to remove the toothed belt to isolate where the noise is from.
The odd thing is it is more audible from inside the car and I thought it was a lifter.
Time will tell I guess.
Still a year on the warranty so might as well keep it all ship shape.

Or whatever the vehicle equivalent is, plagues me.
What does this roller noise sound like? I've been hearing something that I assumed was coming from the tires.
Do you hear it even when you're not moving?

It sounds like a diesel engine, but softer tick tick tick tick ... especially if you are a drive-thru window and the brick wall next to you is reflecting the sound back at you.

it is a noise that is most evident at idle with no consumables running and in gear-so low revs
but it increases in speed with the engine.
Could be as simple as a noisy water pump

Good, that's not what I hear.
I did go through a drive-through the other day though and had a moment of panic until I realized the noise I was hearing was coming from a diesel pick-up behind me.
