I really don't know much about electrical systems, but i've recently undertaken the task of updating my radio in my 97 with a concert. I already have the 13 pin cd changer and the harness. The harness has an external ground wire that runs from the radio to the cd changer. There is also a piece of metal w/ two holes wrapped around the wires coming out of the cd changer. (picture linked) This makes me think the ground eyelit coming from the radio connects to metal piece on the cd changer, and if so, i was wondering if they have to be bolted to a ground point on the car. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would be extremely grateful. Also I plan to mount the changer in my center console in the cubby underneath the armrest by cutting out the plastic piece underneath the phone jack. I was wondering if anyone has tried this or if it would even be possible and if so, if there would be any large complications i could expect. Thanks

experiment by ungrounding the clip in the picture. if the radio and CD player aren't grounded to the same point you may get ground loop noise (typically a hum). However the wire that runs to the radio should prevent that.
