if someone (NOT me thank goodness) unknowlingly purchases a STOLEN car (i think there's a scam called VIN cloning hatching nationwide) .... and a VALID title is issued from the DMV (or MVA in certain states) ... what happens when several weeks/months later the police come to the house and say you're the proud owner of cloned VIN stolen car???!!!

the police then impound the car... NOW WHAT???!! can you make a claim with the insurance company to reimburse for the total loss? what about the person who sold the car to the unknowing purchaser.. any recourse there (if you can manage to find him that is)??? or is the unfortunate purchaser out the gazillion dollar$ he/she paid for the stolen car???!!!
