Default Closing in on low beam failure, pin out info that maybe of interest

I still have a problem with my Low Beam wire on one side getting no power and MID bulb failure. I can easily rig up a relay to power it directly but that wouldnt solve the annoying error on the dash.
Ive already tried changing the Lamp Control Module (aka Lamp relay, its not actually a relay) to the new version (A on the end), no difference at all.

From scouring multiple forums, I found this here:
http://www.gti-tdi.de/board2/index.p...=3691&pageNo=2
This Module checks the amount of current going through and in case of errors it pulls the Break or Headlight signaling Pin from Ground to Vcc.

There are two different Lamp Control Modules available.

4B0 919 471
and
4B0 919 471 A

the "A" Version is compatible with both normal Halogen and Xenon Lights. (Im using this version now)
The Normal Version is for Halogen Lights only. (Stock on '98 S8 with Halogens)
The all important Pinout:

The Pinout of the Lamp Control Modules are as follows:
1 KL15a - 12V Ignition(over 10 Amps Fuse)
2 GND
3 KB - Connect to Cluster Error Detection Data (Brake Light)
4 to Brake Light Right
5 from Brake Pedal Switch with bridge to Pin 7
6 to 3rd Brake Light
7 Bridge to Pin 5
8 to Brake Light Left
9 KS - Connect to Cluster Error Detection Data(Head/Taillight)
10 from Left Parking Light Switch(over 5Amps Fuse)
11 from Head Light Switch Left
12 to Tail Light Right
13 to Head Light Left
14 from Head Light Switch Right
15 to Head Light Right
16 NOT CONNECTED
17 to Tail Light Left
18 from Right Parking Light Switch(over 5 Amps Fuse)

The Snow forced me back indoors today, but tomorrow Im going to check

- sending power over Pin 12 (if yes then wire broken en-route)
- some sort of signal on Pin 14
- what happened to the Dash Error if I bridge Pin 14 and 11 (or in some other way replicate the good side on the bad one)

Note Im assuing the "switch left/right" its referring to is something like a 12v input (ie "switched power") to the control module and in theory the "switch" wire could be wired straight to the "to head light" wire as when people retro fit these Control Modules they simply splice it into the wiring.

What I have found is there is no power at all on Pin11, so the signal from "headlight switch left" is not getting to control module. Which is of course why it doesnt route the power to the headlamp at all.

Now to find out where is comes from and if it can be replicated.

Default Lol, always the simpliest solution

After seeing it doesnt send power on the signal wire I thought it would be a good idea to check fuses again (now that I have the car manual to see which is which). Lo and behold, one of the 2 headlight fuses was infact blown. I had checked these previously with a meter and somehow must had missed it.

Well, at least I learned a lot about the Lamp Control Module!
