Coil pack symptoms?

fixed!
Picked up my car yesterday. It was the airflow meter sensor. It now runs smooth and perfect. I do appreciate knowing that if a coil pak had failed the ECM would have shut off the injector.
The price they charged me was $350 bucks (220 for part/ $120 labor)+ tax. I was expecting it to be more given experience with my 1999 A6 which needed a MAF twice in a couple years. Each time two other shops replaced the MAF, it cost me in the $500-600 range. Sadly, replacing the MAF both times didn't stop the CEL. The final fix was a broken vacuum tube between air box and secondary air injection pump. Because this shop really seemed to know what they were doing, I would go back to them with my A8, but it is too far from me. The A6 ran great up until that Hyundai turned in front of me and Allstate gave me a check for it.
Is the air flow meter sensor on my A8 the same as the whole MAF? Or is it just the wire thing inside the MAF. How does the A8 differ from the A6 I had?

That price is about right for dealer ($230 retail for OEM)...same price range (a little cheaper for A6 V6 MAF).
Every engine size and different codes ("AUX" for your engine) among same size Audi engines take a specific matching part # MAF, but all look about the same, priced about the same and function the same...just have to be matched (electronically) with each specific engine code.
