Default Cold and Confused

I am clueless on this one so any suggestions would be appreciated!

My center vents blow cold I air only. Defrost, floor and side panel vent work fine in the heat mode. The vent motors are fine. I think the vent flaps are used to direct air to the selected vent - so these seem to work also. I'm thinking there is a break in the air intake but I can't fid one. No air comes out of the center if that vent is not selected so it's not blowing through from the outside. Re-circulate didn't seem to change things. Any suggestions?

For now I just close the center vents.

Default Also, there are a few fuses associated with the heater valves

ttuling has posted this before....it has cured others problems.....search for "ttuling heat" or "ttuling heat fuse" or something like that.

Default I believe that the HVAC system is set to fail to HOT.

Meaning that if a fuse is blown it will default to hot air. At least for the sides.

Default Separate dampers direct cold or heated air to the center vents

No climate control trouble codes about V68 or V102? These are the flap motors which direct heated and cold air, respectively, to the center vent. V68 could be stuck shut, or maybe V102 stuck open.

Maybe also check display group 13 field 3 to see that the HVAC controller reads correctly the thumbwheel under the center vent.

(The center vent is the only use of flap movement to control outlet temperature in the A8 system. Cold air from after the fan and AC evaporator goes to the center vent via V102's flap. Heated air, from both sides' heater cores, goes to the center vent via V68's flap. All other vents get air from after the heater cores: outer and foot vents from their side's heater core, defrost from both sides' heater cores. Solenoid operated coolant valves control the heater core temperatures.)

Yes exactly, though the center vent is special. See above.

Default Yes, go to Auto HVAC, check first for Fault Codes...

If no fault codes, visit Meas. Blocks, enter Group 013 on one of the lines, click Go!, and I think the third field should vary from near 0 to near 255 as you move the thumbwheel under the center vent from cold to hot.

If this goes nowhere, or if you had fault codes not related to V68 or V102, please report back. Not yet sure what to try in that case...
