i checked the link .....
i checked the link, looks like a good time. i might call around the cincinnati area to see how much that repair might cost me.
the link stated that it's about a $1g repair. that's pretty steep.

Welcome to the world of A8 ownership...
It's an affordable car if you do the work yourself, but if you take it in... Ka-ching! Remember, this car cost gobs of money new, and the repair cost reflect that. The car depreciates, the repair costs don't (shops/dealers).

Na, cannot take credit there was just as amused by it as you are 8-). I'm tempted to...
...leave a printed stack on me front seat to affix to the pump during each and every fill up.
Join me???
Issues, I got 'em...

Given the age and the high failure rate of the oil coolers on the board
here lately, Me thinks der oil kooler is kaput!
Maybe that's why dealer overfilled teh resivoir?
Maybe he knew it was leaking....

Re: Also check the overflow tube fitting at the top radiator hose and coolant bottle itself.
checked, seems good. i have a call into the dealer where i purchased to see what they can do. they stated "as is", of course, but in the past i've usually gotten them to help out on something like this.
i actually smelled the antifreeze the night i bought it, but couldn't find the leak, and nothing was dripping out. i figured they spilled a little when they topped off the fluids (my rationalization to "overlook" the problem and drive on with my purchase). the salesman assured me this was the case.
good thing is, he remembers the conversation, and will hopefully help me get a repair at a small cost. i sure as hell don't feel like trying to do this myself. i'm good at directions, but i also know things don't always go just as written.
