Correct fuel pump ?
Hello everybody,
For a couple months now I have owned a (very nice) 2001 A8. After reading horror stories about failing fuel pumps, I thought it would be a good idea to carry a spare one around, just in case.
The following one from eBay seemed just the ticket (ebay seller teile-plaza from the UK) : correct (claimed) part number and a good price to boot. I have just received it and I am having some misgivings. The Bentley manual states that it is supposed to be a two-stage affair and my understanding is that the contraption should have a total of 3 spouts emanating from it : one inlet and two outlets. The pump I got has one fairly large spout (presumably the inlet) at one end and a smaller one (presumably an outlet) at the other end where the electrical connections are. There are also two small holes adjacent to the big spout (one round, one elongated) which I assume are for degassing.
I have done an extensive search of this forum but unfortunately the pictures of the correct fuel pump seem no longer accessible.
Can someone confirm whether my purchase was wise or foolish or, better even, post some pictures of the genuine article ?
