Default Correct wire to tap into for power?

Almost finished with the LE-30 laser jammer install (will post pics soon). Found a wire that has power with ignition on and no power with it off. System seems to work, but am I messing up anything else? It's the red/blue wire below. This is under and to the left of the steering wheel.

Default Shouldn't you thought of that before you tapped into it?

;-)

Sorry, but trying to find that wire in the wiring manaul would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

If it's just 12 VDC, I don't think you'll have a problem. If you do, at least you'll know where to start looking.

Default Well, yes, but I basically suck at electronics. 8^)

I did test the wire first, and after a day of driving, no problems so far. I just don't know what the wire does.

Default Sure looks like the wire for the laser jammer to me! 8^)

GrA8 looking car you have there. Do you have a fire extinguisher on board? Oh, you could pull fuses until the power goes off, then consult the wiring diagram for that fuse. Good luck...

On my previus car ( VW Golf GTI VR6 )I had the radar detector above the inside rearview mirror. I used the power from the sunroof switch. It has power only in run position.

Default That's what I'm doing with my Valentine One, but it's only a detector.

By the time it goes off on laser, it's probably too late. The LE-30 actually jams the laser signal. Click on "LE-30 dual" below for more info. The V1 is my choice for radar detection, though.

Default that is ok

red/blue is generally used for switched/fused power - i believe that that wire is used to provide switched power to the indicator unit.

another way to get this source is off terminal 16 of the dlc connector
