that, ... and this is no doubt inappropriate and off topic, but for those that haven't seen it
look for some shimmy on Nopi Tunervision, Speed Channel thursday, 10pm EST.
Watch it downstairs or risk trying to splain it to the wife and kids.

Paul W has a good point. I had aftermarket wheels on one of my VW's and a tireshop made several attempts to repair the shimmy/vibration problem, even shaving some tread! In the end off loaded the aftermarket wheels that did not have the correct diameter to fit on the hub, and only had a plastic spacer. OEM wheels solved the problem - this was about 15 years ago!
Even if they are factory wheels,You might want to put the car on 4 jackstands, and run at idle in drive and look at the wheels turning - it will be obvious if they are off center or bent. Had to do this on my A4 and A6 - Audi wheels bend easily.

...on the S-Car-List on how oddly enough many / most of the UrS owners have or had Scirocco's, mostly 1st gen'ers.
My buddy Rossato also has an SLC - neat stuff.
Go for the D2 '00 and up, or better yet //S8 - the experience is quite fullfilling. Email me if you're ready I have a friend with some attractively priced / desirable ones...
