Default Crank seal front

I thought I was being clever puting the seal in with a 2" pvc coupling.
Went in easy because I oiled it, ooops
It's still accessible would cleaning off oil and reinstalling be ok?

The oil shouldn't be a problem. If you pushed it in too far it will leak. Is it leaking now? If not then just leave it alone.
