Hi all,
My cruise control is operating intermittently. It will travel along fine for kilometres then, and often on a trailing throttle (downhill) it will cut out. Occasionally it will occur going uphill but not with the consistency of the trailing throttle problem.
I know my old 1997 P38 range rover used to use a Hella vacuum cruise control system and the ECU's where known to fail. Do the D2's have similar known issues or simply vacuum leaks. Speaking of which, my vacuum appears fine.
Any tips greatly appreciated!!

Thanks Heaps, i wil get onto that today! Wonder if the same problem occured inside the range rover modules. They certainly look very similar and are made by hella.

Well, i did the repair but i still had the dropping out issue, most notably still on trailing throttle. It had the solder repair done before so ive ordered another ECU.

Ok problem solved. After resoldering the capacitors twice myself (and it had been done previously i could see) and cleaning the sliding switch on the indicator stalk for the cruise and still having drop outs mainly, but not always, occuring on a trailing throttle i purchased replacement capacitors. I decided to take a chance that they may have been damaged with use or reheating from the soldering. Dont know which one it was, but cruise now working with no dramas. So far!
Ill update in a few weeks if problems persist. I hope this helps!
