Default D3 owners. . . anyone experience a loud noise from under

the hood when starting engine cold? It's not the engine and a couple minutes later it is gone. Sounds like something vibrating?

Default Oh Mr. Ricco, those are the squirrels hiding from the inclement weather

you guys have out there. Unfortunately for the squirrels, they didnt get out in time! Seriously, the only noise coming from the engine compartment when its cold is a fan or fanbelt noise which seems to dissipate after it warms up a bit. I would not call it loud though.

Default It could be churning milk to make more cheese... or

It might be related to this post awhile ago. It seems others have had the "loud noise on cold mornings" issue:

Noise on cold mornings

Default I would guess another cat saw the bright light.

Does it get cold enough overnight for the smog pump to activate? I imagine that would shake and boom some.

Default Mine was making a lot of noise when cold...

... and never fully went away, even when the car warmed up. I took it in and had them check it out. They determined that my "idler pulley for the accessory belt" was making the noise. They removed the belt and replaced the idler pulley and it's been fine ever since.

My only gripe was the parts required were on "back order" and took over a week to arrive, only after some intense "encouragement" from the powers that be.

Good luck!

You are most welcome. Hard to diagnose a sound described textually...
