Does anybody know whether the tranny can be recoded so that it's possible (in Tip mode) to start up in 2nd gear? This could be either (a) by making 2nd the default when the car is stationary, but capable of being overridden manually; or (b) keeping 1st as the default but allowing 2nd to be selected. [This is possible in some cars, e.g., my wife's X5].

The car obviously has the power and gearing to make starting up in second perfectly fine in many situations. Jackrabbit starts have their place, but not necessarily in stop and go traffic.

Any thoughts?

The thing will upshift semi-instantaneously.

sometimes when I'm not in a hurry, I just want to skip 1st gear, like Mr. Steamer here.

I've never used tip to make early upshifts, but I suppose you could.

you will need to:
1) wait for the new vag-com interface
2) use trial and error on the recodes

it probably is possible, but personally i doubt that audi/zf would let that function be activated by adaption/decoding. most likely this is a job for someone who can decode/reprogram the tcm.
